Iniziamo a  sentire profumo di Natale e sempre prima ad avere voglia di vestire le nostre case con decorazioni a tema che riscaldano l'ambiente e donano subito una nuova accoglienza. Per il prossimo Natale 2014, tante idee design per addobbi natalizi da realizzare da copiare e realizzare da soli, adatti anche per coinvolgere i più piccoli ma il vero protagonista delle feste è sicuramente l’albero di Natale coordinato quasi sempre a splendidi decori per la tavola. Vi segnaliamo anche alcuni addobbi natalizi ecologici e di dal design essenziale come che scelgono il bianco come tono dominante. I colori protagonisti delle feste sono sicuramente quelli classici del rosso e dell’oro, del blu e dell’argento, del verde e del bianco ma ad unirsi ultimamente ci sono anche colori più di moda come il rosa ad esempio declinato in diversi toni. Se poi cerchi una buona idea low cost e anche un posto per la tanto utile scala di casa, prova a decorarla con lucine bianche, l'effetto cheap and chic è garantito!

 The sister museum to the Pompidou in Paris, the Pompidou-Metz was design with a similar spirit and an equally interesting and “out there” design. Japanese architect, Shigeru Ban along with Jean de Gastines from France won the contract to design the structure back in 2003. Inspired by a a Chinese hat the roof is like a giant tent that covers the galleries below and is constructed of laminated timber covered in fiberglass and Teflon. At night, the museum lights glow through the roof revealing the intricately built timber mesh roof.

The Centre Pompidou-Metz is centered around a 77 meter spire that juts out from the roof like a rocket exploding from a balloon. The 77 meters is a nod to the year the original Pompidou was built – 1977. The roof undulates and extends out over there edges of the galleries below providing shade and protection from the sun and weather. Light filters down through the PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) white roof covering, letting natural daylight into the gallery space below. The roof was created with an innovative construction method utilizing six beams woven together to create the hexagonal pattern seen from below or at night when lights shine through the membrane.

Below the roof, sits three long rectangular gallery spaces resting on top of one another at 45 degree angle. The galleries poke out from the roof for views of the city and for added daylight. The interior of the museum is finished with light wood, white walls and pearl-grey polished concrete in order to convey a sense of openness. Outside the museum are sloping gardens that collect rainwater and pedestrian paths to the nearby TGV high speed train station.

The architecture and desgin of the Centre Pompidou-Metz is said to meet an “environmental quality and sustainable development criteria, and as such is coherent with the urban redevelopment programme being carried out in the city’s Amphithéâtre district.” Set to open in early May, artwork from the Pompidou’s extensive collection still needs to make it’s way over to the new museum. Besides exhibition space, the gallery will include an auditorium, café and restaurant, a bookshop-boutique, resource center and a studio for live performances.

AREIAS DO SEIXO, boutique beach hotel Portugal

Areias Do Seixo owes much of its charm and success to its owners, husband and wife team Marta Fonseca and Gonçalo Alves, who in 2010 decided to create a hotel reflecting their passion for the environment and design. Gonçalo, who comes from three generations of hoteliers, also holds a degree in Management together with Marta, who is on hand to greet each new visitor like a guest in their home. “They arrive as guests and leave as friends,” noted Gonçalo, who tapped architect Vasco Vieira and interior designers Rosario Gabriel and Isabel Schedel to bring their eco-chic resort to life, complete with geothermal energy, photovoltaic solar panels, and recycling.

  

“When we got the chance to do a project like this, in a location we consider to be precious, we knew we had to be extremely sensitive in the way we would intervene,” says Gonçalo, who built around ancient trees instead of uprooting them, which can be seen in one of the guest bathrooms where a stately olive tree stands at its center. Their commitment to recycling can be found in whimsical designs scattered throughout the hotel’s interiors. Bed frames and wardrobes ingeniously constructed with driftwood collected from nearby beaches, while old oil drums were transformed into chic bedside tables.

Le White, Parigi in bianco

Le White è questo il nome del concept store che ha sede a Parigi, nel quale si espongono e si vendono i lavori di giovani designer e artisti il cui tema dominante è, appunto, il bianco. Diversi oggetti e opere come fotografie, oggetti d’arredo, illustrazioni, dipinti, abbigliamento e accessori; tutto rigorosamente di un bianco abbagliante e siderale. Un concept monocromatico e candido che risulta subito alla moda. In questo luogo o meglio in questa galleria appartamento, nulla sembra essere lasciato al caso, vi espongono giovani designer provenienti da ambienti diversi che condividono lo spirito innovativo verso il design, l'arte e la moda.

150 Street Artists Transformed A Tunisian Island Into A Massive Outdoor Museum

The Paris-based institution Galerie Itinerrance invited artists like C215, eL Seed, Swoon, and ROA to paint the walls, doors and ruins of Djerba, turning the sparse architecture into open air canvases.

Djerba is the largest island in North Africa, home to Roman and Punic ruins and one of the oldest synagogues in the world -- El Ghriba. With idyllic beaches and a mild climate, Djerba has long been a tourist resort destination, though the tragic Ghriba synagogue bombing in 2002 slowed travel to the island for some time. George Lucas' 1977 "Star Wars Episode IV" filmed briefly in the town of Ajim, cementing Djerba's spot in pop culture history.

 

I fiori della libertà di Ai Wei Wei

Un bel contrasto e l'ennesima provocazione dell'artista Ai Wei Wei, che questa volta ha scelto proprio Alcatraz, isola, sede fino al 1963 di una prigione rigida e temutissima come sede per la sua ultima esposizione.  Negli spazi dell’ex reparto psichiatrico ha creato un'altra delle sue spettacolari e profonde opere che vede protagonisti questa volta centinaia di mazzi di fiori in porcellana posizionati in lavandini, servizi igienici e vasche un tempo utilizzate dai detenuti. L’installazione, dal titolo “Blossom“, è stata realizzata dall'artista cinese che ha voluto metaforicamente riflettere sui diritti umani e su concetti come libertà e giustizia in un contesto potente. La scelta dei fiori non è casuale: non solo, infatti, richiamano l’arte cinese dell’immaginario naturale, ma soprattutto si riferiscono alla famosa “Campagna dei Cento Fiori” che avvenne in Cina nel 1956, un breve periodo di tolleranza del governo di Mao Tse-tung per la libertà di espressione che è stato immediatamente seguito da una grave periodo di repressione e violazione della diritto alla vita di molti cittadini e intellettuali dell’epoca. Fino al 26 aprile 2015 nelle celle e negli spazi comuni di Alcatraz.
